DNS Propagation
Queries the same DNS record from multiple public resolvers worldwide (Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, and others). Use it after a DNS change to verify the update has propagated globally.
Frequently asked questions
- Why do different resolvers show different results?
- DNS changes propagate unevenly. Each resolver has its own cache; records refresh only after the TTL expires. Full propagation can take seconds, minutes, or up to 48 hours.
- How do I speed up propagation?
- Lower your TTL (e.g. to 300 seconds) before the change, wait 24 hours for caches to shrink, then make the change. After it is live everywhere, raise TTL back to 3600 or higher.
- Why is my resolver not listed?
- We query the most-used public resolvers (Google, Cloudflare, Quad9, OpenDNS, regional ones). Private or enterprise resolvers cannot be tested externally.
